Altrincham Creative Theatre School present two timeless classical plays this March.
ACT I will perform the classic story of ‘Oliver Twist’ by Charles Dickens. The story concerns a young boy born in the Workhouse and follows the adventures he has thereafter. Along the way we meet, with him, a variety of colourful characters such as Mr Bumble, Mrs Corney, the Artful Dodger, Nancy, Fagin and the evil Bill Sikes. This is a play that will delight children and adults alike. Curtain up at 7.00pm
ACT II this time around perform a classic of a different kind. ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ by William Shakespeare, one of his best loved comedies! Yes this is the one that concerns fairies, star crossed lovers in a wood and a band of comic workmen hoping to perform for the Duke and his bride at court. Curtain up at 7.30pm
All performances will take place at North Cestrian Grammar School and call for 0161 928 2277 for tickets. Prices are £5.00 with Concessions at £3.00 and there is a group discount for parties of 10 or more.
Altrincham Creative Theatre School’s ACT II section were recently visited by Freelance Professional Costumier, Livvry Woods. Livvry studied Costume with Performance Design at AUB, Arts University Bournemouth and gained a B.A. Hons. She then began her career working on the TV series ‘Endeavour’ as a costume daily. This was followed by being the costume maker on the web series ‘The First Musketeer’. She has not worked in TV but also in opera and been involved in educational theatre work. Her latest was as costume maker and wardrobe mistress for the Winslow Hall Opera. Here not only did she oversee all the costumes but made the wedding dress for the leading role of ‘Lucia’ in their production of ‘Lucia d’ L’Ammermoor’
As well as theatre and TV work Livvry undertakes private commissions as well. She was very happy to come and talk to the ACT II students about her work, show them some of her dresses and advise them on their ideas for their costumes in their forthcoming main production of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. Head Tutor, Valerie Harris said “We are very grateful to Livvry for taking time out to talk to the students and she was very helpful. She has also allowed us to use one of her costumes for the production which is a real bonus for us!”
