We are are once again very busy preparing their entries for the forthcoming One Act Play Festival season which starts next month. This year both sections will be presenting comedies.

ACT I, the junior section will be performing ‘Panto Inc’ written and directed by ACTS tutor, John Banks. Pantomime agent, Rupert Gilworthy is trying to make ends when suddenly he gets a call from London. Could this be the golden ticket he has been waiting for to make it big? However, he needs some excellent Panto actors to clinch the contract. Will he succeed?

The youth section, ACT II meanwhile tackle the world of Drama Festivals with the play ‘Melons at the Parsonage’ written by Nick Warburton. When Frantic Jam and the Bletchworth Players become joint winners of the Barnley Operatic Group’s Festival Fair (BOGOFF) what’s to be done? Festival Organiser, Iris Cowley invokes the rule that there will have to be a tie breaker. This involves both groups performing the other team’s drama entry. Will this be enough to convince Adjudicator Ted Wither who will be the eventual winner?

Head Tutor and ACT II’s director, Valerie Harris commented “After our two excellent but very challenging main productions it is nice to be producing some comedy. Good comedy is however a very serious business. All of the students are aware of this and know that such plays require a lot of preparation. They are hard at work to make these both very entertaining for all the festivals audiences.”
